Red Apple Day - Shop Savvy 22 June 2016

Wednesday the 22nd of June is Red Apple Day, set by Bowel Cancer Australia.
Apparently it's the highlight of Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, which we've touched on in our blog a few posts back.

So being very creative as I am I've collated both sweet and savoury apple dishes for you to try!

By the way, Woolworths is doing $2.50/kg for Aussie Apples and Coles $2.50/1kg bag for Australian Granny Smith Apple for the week (22 -28 June) so it's a great time to experiment.

Now here are your inspirations.

Quinoatmeal with Apple and Toasted Walnuts
Mornings are seriously getting chilly, and the only thing that'll lure me out of bed is a heart- and tummy-warming porridge.
You can use almonds in place of walnuts if you like. Coles have 400g pack natural/dry roasted almonds at $7.

Apple Sabzi (Apple Curry)
Green Apple Curry (photo)
I had never heard of an apple curry until today!
As a curry-lover this is on my to-make list for this week.
Patak's curry simmer sauce (500g) are $2.42 at Coles, so if you're not in to collecting all the spices then using a sauce like this instead can be an option.
Adding some cashews might be yummy too... Woolworths have unwalted cashews 750g for $9.50.

Roast Pork Tenderloin and Apples with Mushroom Saute
Let's bring back the Sunday roast with this beautiful seasonal dish.
Make enough to save save you some leftovers to chuck in to a salad or sandwich filling the next day.
Mushrooms are $4.50 for 500g pack at Woolworths.

Apple Crisp (gluten free)
Gluten-free apple crisp with pecans -
I've always favoured apple cobbler over apple pie. I don't know why.
I guess I just love the excitement of scooping the dessert straight from the tin of apple cobbler than elegantly eating a slice of apple pie.

Let's enjoy our lovely apples and celebrate Red Apple Day in support of Bowel Cancer Australia!

Happy eating :)
